Al(OH)3
Hydrated alumina is a fine granular white powder that is typically added to glazes as a source of alumina.
Typical analysis:
Al(OH)3 99.5% pure
Melting point 3000°C
The hydrated version of alumina remains in suspension better in glaze slurries, and has better adhesive qualities than Calcined Alumina Oxide. Small additions of alumina hydrate to a glaze can also enhance the color of Cr-Al pinks. Larger additions can impart dullness in the glaze.
